Friends of Yarida Association The Gambia (FoYATG)

Friends of Yarida Association The Gambia has been formed to build a nursery school in the village of Toubakolong.

Tubakolong is a village on the North Bank of the Gambia, the nearest nursery school is 5Km away and can only be reached along a dirt track road. No children under the age of 7 attend school due to the distance and dangers of the journey for children so young.

There are currently over 200 village children between the ages of 5 and 7 who are desperate to attend school. The village elders have made a piece of land available for the construction of a three classroom school.

There is enough room to continue construction to include a primary school, upper school and a health centre at a later date.

The school's basic shell construction is complete. Sponsorship is now required to fund teachers salaries and add the extras like tables and chairs. We would also like to build some toilets as the next priority
